8U Division

WARRIORS (Coach Rodney) (L) vs. SHARKS (Coach Mack) (W)

The SHARKS are coming off one of the biggest upset last week beating the once undefeated Young Guns.  Coach Mack has the Sharks peaking just in time for the playoffs behind the strong play of Jacob Schroeder and his supporting cast, Chandler Towne, Brady Driscoll and Jacob Mack. Can they do it again this week? Coach Rodney and his Warriors are hoping to slow them down as the strong play of Dylan VanHorn and Joshua Abregano continue to improve with the return of Sophia’s D. The game was very tight as neither team produced much offense due to their physical defense. Tanner Porter, Gabriel Rivera and Alexis P. did their best to stop the Sharks but today was their day as they come away with the “W”.

Team Mayo (L) vs. Young Guns – Coach “G” (W)

The Young Guns look to bounce back against team Mayo after their tough loss last week against the SHARKS. Kamden Ulrich and Landon Gebauer looked strong as they relentlessly tracked down the ball on “D”.  The Michael brothers of team Mayo along with Jackson Mayo worked their tail and hustled to keep up but the Young Guns were very determined today as they come away with the win.

11U Division

RAGE – Coach Mike Lee (L) vs. Ballers – Coach “G” (W)

The RAGE host the Ballers in our first game as the RAGE of Coach Mike Lee tries to do what others have not done and that is to stop the Ballers. The Ballers come in this match still holding top seed and is the team to beat. The game was very fast as both teams traded baskets. The diminutive RAGE played a heck of a game as they tried to match the BALLERS intensity but in the end the BALLERS continued their winning ways as they come away with a hard fought “W”.  Can the BALLERS run the table?

GAME OF THE WEEK

Durbin Warriors – Coach Brian Spillers vs. Magic – Coach Hermann (Asst. Coach Todd)

It was a very close finish as the WARRIORS edged the MAGIC of coach Hermann. In what can only be told as saving the best for last, the MAGIC of coach Hermann played a tremendous game as they almost beat a very strong WARRIORS team of coach Spillers. The game was very physical as both teams played outstanding defense. In the end, the WARRIORS get the “W”, but hats off to the MAGIC and their coaches as they came together and gave us a peek of what they have become, a basketball team... They fought through adversity and regardless of the outcome it was a heck of a game. In the end, they became winners for they came together and played as a team. Coach Spillers says after the game, “Who were those guys?”

13U Girls Division

GAME OF THE WEEK

Flyers – Coach Tim Horn, Asst. Coach Laura (W) vs. HEAT – Coach Crenshaw (L)

In the first game in this division, the Flyers host the HEAT of coach Crenshaw. These two teams are very even in talent as they start the game in what seems to be the flavor of the week- DEFENSE. Both teams traded basket as the lead was back and forth. Angel and Nicole led the HEAT followed by their defensive supporting cast Molly C, Emerson S., Leah C., Bailey H. and Maya R. The Flyers were led by Dana A. and Natalie L. honorable mentions for the Flyers are Madison and Taylor B., Faith H., Hannah M., and Cheyann C. Although the Flyers come away with the ”W”, the game was very close and exciting as it took a double OT for the “W”. Kudos to coach Crenshaw and his HEAT for coming together and playing a tremendous team ball and congratulations to the Flyers and Coach Tim Horn for holding the number one seed in the playoffs, well done.

Chargers – Coach Wright (L) vs. HEAT – Coach Crenshaw – non-league (W)

In a non-league game between coach Tim Wright’s Chargers and the HEAT, the HEAT are coming off a double OT game in the first game of their double header.  However, coach Crenshaw was comfortable that his team was ready to go. The Chargers having defeated the HEAT the previous week, comes in this contest with tremendous momentum, but as the game progressed, the HEAT began to play with more grit as they begin to out-hustle the Chargers. In the end, the HEAT came away with a hard fought “W”.

13U Boys Division

Team Miller (W) vs. Team Moore (L)

Team Miller started the game relying on the play of their big men inside – and they did not disappoint as they led team Miller offensively. Team Moore countered with the quickness they have on their guards and they also played a sensational game. The game was a run and gun type of game but in the end team Miller’s inside presence proved to be the difference as they defeated team Moore in a very gritty game.

Team Hollis (W) vs. Team Knauff (L)

In our second game in this division, team Hollis plays host to team Knauff. In what has been a very competitive previous game between these two upper tier teams - we look forward to fireworks. The game starts fast and furious for team Hollis as they set a full court press right off the bat creating turnovers into easy points. Led by their guard, team Hollis continued to press the entire game. Team Knauff was able to beat the press at times but they just could not convert any baskets. They seem to have a lid on their basket while team Hollis put on a clinic with their play as they had all cylinders firing in the win.

High School Division

Warriors – Coach Mack (L) vs. Swaggerz – Coach Torres (W)

The first game in High School pits team Swaggerz of Coach Torres against the Warriors of coach Mack. Coming off   another big win last week, the Warriors are poised for a strong outing. However, the Swaggerz are just as strong and are just as competitive. The start of the game was controlled by the Swaggers as Noah Lippy and Sol Miller made it look very easy scoring against the Warriors. J. Michael of the Warriors was holding his own but the other star players of the Warrior just could not get in rhythm as the Swaggers come away with the win outplaying and out-hustling a very strong Warriors team.

Showtime – Coach Moore (W) vs. SHOCKERS (L)

Team Showtime is coming off of a very disappointing loss to Bishop Snyder. Coach Moore of Showtime was quite dissatisfied with the outcome for he felt they had a chance to pull the upset. The Shockers on the other hand come off back to back loses and hope to rebound in the win column. A third loss for the Shockers and a win by the Swaggerz would eliminate the Shockers altogether from playoff contention. The first half of the game was dominated by Showtime as they outplayed the Shockers on both ends of the court. Showtime limited the Shockers to a season low 4 points the first 20 minutes of the game as the Shockers appeared to be sleep walking at times. The second half was the same story as Showtime won with ease. With the Swaggerz winning their game big and a loss by the Shockers, the Shockers are eliminated from the playoff… Good Luck SWAGGERZ!!!

Bishop Snyder – Coach Dakota Benson (W) vs. Team Hollis (L)

The last game of the season for team Hollis comes against the mighty Snyder team of Coach Benson. After a close call last week at the hands of Showtime, Coach Benson vowed to not let a game come that close again.  Bishop Snyder at both end of the court dominated the game as they kept the foot on the gas the entire game. Team Hollis gave it their best effort but this is Bishop Snyder’s time to shine as they win convincingly.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK - The BlueChip Athletix players of the week honors goes to two athletes:

  1. Noah (Rocky Balboa) Lippy of team Swaggerz (HS). Noah played a tremendous game. Suffering a deep gash above his eye, he could not be stopped for the second week in a row as he leads his team against a very strong Warriors team.
  2. Sam Art (13U Girls) for her grit and inside play in a double OT win over the HEAT.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

On behalf of our BlueChip family, we would like to thank you all of the parents and coaches for their support and understanding for none of this would be possible without you. We are forever grateful and we look forward to another great season!!!
